Pinto Bean Soup
 

INGREDIENTS

 
8 ounces dry pinto beans
1 cup diced onion
1/4 teaspoon crushed garlic
2 teaspoons salt
1/4 teaspoon chili powder
1/4 teaspoon basil
 

DIRECTIONS

 
Rinse the beans and place them in a 2 1/2 quart pot with 7 cups of water. Add the other ingredients. Cover and cook on medium high heat until the beans are soft (about 90 minutes). Serves 4-6. Great with cornbread.
