Kitty Consumer Product Reviews

Below is a list of cat products I have tried in my mission to make Angel a happy, healthy kitty. Some of them are great, while others are a complete waste of money. I have assigned each cat product a rating based on its overall quality. The scale is from 1-5 with 5 being the best rating and 1 being the worst.

Iams Cat Food: Rating-1: It is advertised as the best food you can buy for your cat and is even recommended by vets. However, I give it a big thumbs down because it is a high priced cat food with cheap, disgusting ingredients. For more info on cat food ingredients, click here.

Nutro Natural Choice Cat Food: Rating-5: This cat food has no by products or corn fillers. It has only top quality ingredients and is reasonably priced. They make both wet and dry cat food, but my cat will only eat dry food. He is an indoor kitty so I feed him the formula for indoor cats.

Feliway Plug In Diffuser: Rating-4: The Feliway Diffuser is designed to stop marking and scratching, as well as decrease a cat's stress level. My cat was very stressed and was marking various spots around the house. He had been abandoned when he found me and I needed to a way to reduce his stress. It took about a week to notice any effects, but he stopped marking and seems calmer now. The diffuser costs about $28 when purchased online (some pet supply stores charge $39).

Kitty Show Videos: Rating-5:  My cat spends lots of time alone because I am at work all day. I was concerned about him feeling lonely and bored. One day when surfing the web I found that there are videos and DVDs made just for cats. I decided to give them a try and see if kitties will really watch them. Not only does Angel watch them, he paws at the TV set trying to catch the birds and bugs. You can get more info on these kitty flix at kittyshow.com

Pet Mate Fresh Flow Drinking Fountain: Rating-4:This product provides a gentle stream of fresh, filtered water for your cat to drink. My cat was always climbing up on the kitchen counter and drinking from the faucet (ew!). After I bought him the drinking fountain he stopped drinking from the faucet (yay!). The only drawback is that tap water should not be used because it can damage the pump. I use distilled water. The Petmate fountain costs about $40.00 and has a one year warranty with toll free customer service.

Cat Attract Kitty Litter: Rating-1: My cat was peeing outside his litter box. The vet ruled out illness and recommended Cat Attract kitty litter. I bought an extra litter box and a bag of Cat Attract. When my cat does use the litter box to pee, he uses the one with the Arm and Hammer litter. He hardly uses the one with Cat Attract and when he does, he goes to number 2. Cat Attract is very expensive and it doesn't attract my cat, so I give it a big thumbs down.
